Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 26 April 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the standards of conduct that all users of Distinxion must follow. This policy exists to protect our users, our platform, and the integrity of South African education. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Overview
Distinxion is a study assistance tool built to help students learn and improve. We trust our users to use the platform responsibly and in good faith. This policy outlines what responsible use looks like and what is not permitted.
By using Distinxion, you agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy. Violations may result in account suspension or permanent termination.
2. Prohibited Activities

- Misrepresenting AI-generated content as your own original work in any academic, professional, or public context.
Misuse of AI features
- Attempting to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI to produce harmful, inappropriate, or off-topic content.
- Submitting inputs designed to extract confidential system prompts or internal instructions.
- Using the AI marking feature to generate false performance records.
3. Academic Integrity
Distinxion is designed to help students learn — not to enable dishonesty in official assessments.
We take academic integrity seriously. The following uses are explicitly prohibited:
- Using AI-generated answers in official assessments: You may not use content generated by Distinxion — including worked solutions, model answers, or practice question responses — in any official IEB examination, NSC examination, school test, class assignment, or any other formal academic assessment where such use would constitute cheating or plagiarism.
- Impersonating another student: You may not use Distinxion to complete work on behalf of another student or to impersonate another student in any assessment.
- Sharing exam content inappropriately: You may not upload or share content that you believe to be a current (not past) or leaked exam paper.
Distinxion is a learning tool. The correct use is to study the worked solutions, understand the method, and apply your own understanding in assessments. We encourage you to use the platform to genuinely improve — the goal is your success, earned honestly.
We cooperate with educational institutions and examining bodies if asked to investigate potential academic integrity violations.
4. Content Standards
All content you upload to Distinxion must:
- Be past exam papers from official South African examining bodies (IEB, DBE/NSC), school past papers, or legitimate study materials.
- Not contain content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or discriminatory.
- Not contain personal information about other individuals without their consent.
- Comply with all applicable South African laws.
We reserve the right to remove any uploaded content that violates these standards without notice.
5. Consequences of Violations
We take violations of this policy seriously. Consequences may include:
- Warning: For minor or first-time violations, we may issue a written warning.
- Feature restriction: We may restrict your access to specific features of the platform.
- Account suspension: We may temporarily suspend your account pending investigation.
- Account termination: For serious or repeated violations, your account will be permanently terminated without refund.
- Legal action: For violations involving illegal activity, fraud, or serious harm to the platform or users, we may pursue legal remedies.
Determinations are made at Distinxion's sole discretion. If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may appeal by emailing abuse@distinxion.co.za.
